About Matthew Perkins

An award-winning specialist in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, Matt has a keen interest in cutting-edge developments. Matt is the Clinical Director of MODUS as well as a director of practicalperio.org, which provides dental education to the whole dental team. He lectures nationally and internationally on all aspects of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. In 2014, Matt was elected to Fellowship of the International Team for Implantology, a network of 650 elected professionals worldwide who promote implant dentistry by research, education, and development (approximately 60 people in this network are from the UK).

He is a registered implant mentor for the ITI, Straumann and the Association of Dental Implantology. He also works closely with the British Society of Periodontology and was appointed the UK’s Ambassador to the European Federation on Periodontology for Europerio 8 in 2015. Matt qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Dental Institute in 2002 with prizes in Periodontology and Preventive Dentistry. After VT and an SHO post in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, he worked for the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. After his return, he completed his membership of the Faculty of Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

He then undertook and completed specialist training in periodontology at King’s College, London. He completed his MSc and MClinDent at the University of London, and his Membership in Restorative Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In 2016, he was awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FDS RCSEd).In 2010, Matt was voted the UK’s Best Young Dentist at the Dentistry Awards. He is a key opinion leader for Curaprox and Hu Friedy. He has also been awarded a Clinical Fellowship Award from the British Society of Periodontology. Matt has extensive experience in all aspects of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry and has a special interest in Regenerative Surgery, Periodontal Plastic Surgery and the treatment of implant complications, including Peri-Implantitis and restorative complications.
